Yellowstone Update 10

Well folks, it’s the final chapter…. after this update, I’m embarking on a two week road-trip, going to 7 different national parks as well as visiting some family and friends on the way. I’m looking forward to heading home, giving my family big hugs and my next adventure working for AMR Ambulance during the off season as an EMT. In the meantime, enjoy the final update for the summer ’22 season.

The visitation dropped way down in the last week, as did the weather, but there were some nice days where I was still able to get out and talk to smaller groups of visitors. Jessie and I caught a nice Beehive eruption with a beautiful rainbow behind it. Fun fact, but September/October is the time of year for rainbows on geysers because the sun is at 42 degrees, and as long as it hits your shoulders from behind, you get a spectacular rainbow with the eruption.

Over my final weekend, I had to spend most of it packing, but they finally opened Lamar Valley up to the Northeast entrance out to Cooke City. So I officially checked off the last entrance on my list, I have been through all 6 entrances of Yellowstone which is a neat lil brag!

I went to Lamar with Michael, and we checked off a lot of little small stops that had been on my list for a while including Calcite Spring, Pumice Point, and we swung by Artist Point one last time.

The morning was super foggy, and the bison looked eerie along the roadside, but it cleared up into a beautiful day, and I think the Northeast Entrance is now my favorite entrance in the entire park, it was all old growth Lodgepole Pine, and had the most stunning views of the mountains.

Michael and I have become really close friends this season, and it’s awesome because we have the same sense of humor and are always keeping the other laughing. It’s been great to make a few intentional connections this season for sure.

On my last work day, it finally snowed and flurried! Of course, I had to document the snow and take my last day of work photo, I’ve grown so much this season, and I know I say this a lot, but this summer has truly been like no other, and I wouldn’t change it for anything. Thank you Yellowstone!

  • It’s obvious that Yellowstone Has left a mark on you as a person, and somehow we think you have left your own little mark on Yellowstone. Thanks for these wonderful updates, each one!, love to you, and safe travels back to Grandma and Grandpa.

  • I spent a wonderful (full of wonder !) afternoon with all needed reports, told by an excellent young ranger called Rachel Baer. I took part in all her knowledge in best fotos with short explanations (not usual) and in her big enthusiasm for nature..
Loving our European Alps I can share and understand.
Greetings and thanks by your almost 90 year old Aunt Brigitte
